This November, the Rose Garden is in full bloom. Celebrate the season with 3,000 roses across 350 varieties in the middle of 200 years of history. The whole Estate is open for a day of wandering through colour and heritage.
Explore the Rose Garden, the grounds and all 18 original heritage buildings, then follow the Market Trail, featuring local makers. A handful of ticketed experiences are also available including guided walks with our gardeners, viewing of Woolmers House, Gin Tasting, Devonshire Tea overlooking the garden and wine & cheese picnic platters enjoyed amongst the roses.
Early Bird tickets are $10 until 30 September, then $15 general admission.

Step inside Woolmers House itself, home to six generations of the Archer family, and see the original furniture, portraits and heirlooms just as they left them. Available for purchase on the day.

The week before the Festival of Roses, Longford opens its gates for Longford Blooms, an open garden festival showcasing the district’s finest private gardens, from grand historic homes to small cottage plots, just minutes from Woolmers Estate.

Rare and unusual plants will be for sale in all gardens and in the Christchurch Grounds. If you are searching for rare plants, obelisks, pots, large and small, birdbaths, statues, beautiful sun hats and extra strong gardening gloves, you will find them at Longford Blooms.
Fuel the day with gourmet food vans on the Village Green, or settle into one of Longford’s cafes and pubs, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner across both days. The Rose Garden Cafe at Woolmers Estate will also be open, from 8am to 4pm.
Two separate garden festivals, a week apart, in the same small town. If you’re travelling from further afield for the roses, it’s worth timing your trip around both.
Woolmers Estate offers heritage accommodation in beautifully restored convict-built cottages, sleeping up to 16 guests. Accommodation guests receive after-hours access to the estate after day visitors leave. Longford Blooms one week, the Festival of Roses the next. Rather than the drive twice, stay on the Estate in between
