Chamber Music Concert - Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra

The string sextet combines the intimacy of a string quartet with the fuller sound of music for larger ensemble. The multi-hued sextet by Borodin sets the scene, while the expertly crafted sextet by Brahms is one of the finest works of the composer’s first maturity.

Borodin String Sextet in D minor
Brahms String Sextet No. 1 in B-flat, Op. 18

Jennifer Owen and Lucy Carrig-Jones, violin, Douglas Coghill and Henry Justo, viola, Jonathan Békés, cello and Stuart Thomson, double bass.
